Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier, commonly known as the Yorkie, is a small but vibrant dog breed that combines a feisty and affectionate temperament. Originating in the English counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire, they were originally bred by Scottish weavers in the mid-1800s to catch rodents in textile mills. Today, Yorkies are primarily pampered companions and lapdogs known for their long, silky coats and bold personalities. They are often described as brave, playful, and loyal, making them excellent watchdogs despite their small size. However, they also require extensive grooming and can be prone to certain health issues and separation anxiety.
