The American Eskimo Dog, affectionately known as the "Eskie," is a friendly and intelligent breed that makes an excellent family companion. Originating from German Spitz dogs, they were renamed American Eskimo Dogs due to anti-German sentiments post-World War I. Known for their striking white coats, fluffy double layers, and curly tails, Eskies are alert, social, and affectionate. They are highly trainable, thriving in obedience and agility activities, and are known to be fiercely loyal to their families while being naturally reserved with strangers. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are crucial to prevent misbehavior and maintain their overall well-being.
