Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, commonly known as the PBGV, is a breed of dog originating from France. Originally bred to hunt rabbits and other small game in the Vendée region of France, these dogs are characterized by their rough, long, and shaggy double coats, which protect them from thorns and underbrush. Known for their happy and extroverted nature, PBGVs are affectionate companions who make friends easily, including with strangers. They are highly vocal, using a variety of barks and calls, and are well-suited to active families who can provide regular exercise and engaging outdoor activities. As highly social animals, they thrive in environments where they can interact with humans and other dogs frequently.
