Nederlandse Kooikerhondje

The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is an ancient Dutch spaniel breed known for its distinctive orange-red and white coat and outstanding hunting skills. Historically, Kooikerhondjes were used in duck hunting, using their plumed tails and playful antics to lure waterfowl into traps. These dogs are lively, intelligent, and easygoing, making them versatile companions for both hunting and family life. They are highly trainable and compatible with children but may be initially shy around strangers. With early socialization and adequate exercise, they become loyal and affectionate companions. Despite their rarity, they have gained popularity in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
