Hokkaido
The Hokkaido is a medium-sized dog breed originating from Japan, renowned for its intelligence, loyalty, and active nature. Known for forming strong bonds with their families, Hokkaidos make excellent companions but can be protective of their loved ones and wary of strangers. They are descendants of hunting dogs used by the Ainu people to hunt large game in the harsh climates of Hokkaido. With proper socialization and training, they can become loving and dedicated family pets. Their dense double coats make them well-suited to cold weather, while their high energy levels necessitate regular exercise and mental stimulation.
