The Appenzeller Sennenhund is a Swiss breed of medium-sized working dog known for its lively and alert temperament. Originating in the Appenzell region of north-eastern Switzerland, it was traditionally used by Alpine cattle-herders and dairymen to herd cattle and guard property. The breed is highly intelligent and adaptable, making it a versatile companion both on farms and in family homes. Its distinctive tricolour coat and curly tail set it apart from other breeds. With strong herding instincts and protective tendencies, early socialization and training are essential.
